Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc was born on January 6 1412 to Jacques and Isabella D’arc. She was bored and raised in the small village of Domery, which is now part of Lorraine. During her childhood France was divided into warring fractions because they could not extend a truce with England. Due to the fact that a truce could not be made King Henry V and his family overthrew the French crown and ruled. The English returned in 1417 conquering most of northern France. It was about this time that Joan of Arc claimed that she began to have visions that included visual and physical communications between saints and herself. According to royal documents on at least two occasions two people also or witnessed the interactions between Joan of Arc and the saints. She also stated that these saints were none other than St. Catherine,St Margaret, and st Gabrielle.
The situation in her nation got worst because King Charles lost all the alliances he had. Joan claimed that as the situation worsen so did the urges from the angeles to go to France. She, with the advice of the saints led to her leading an army of men to victories and thus the rightful king being in power again. The fact that she was a woman commanding many men to victory made her someone to be admired. The fact that she did all of this with the help of god’s grace made her a saint. Although she truly believed she was being guided by god this might have made her job harder. Many people would have thought she was mad because she wanted to led an army at a time when women did not have a say in anything. I admire her because i imagined she always kept her head up and never said never. She is also someone people can view as brave, she loved her country and her family enough to risk her own life in order to preserve their way of life. I could do what she did but i do not think i would gain enough courage to do it. I am the type of person that can not handle pain so i do not see myself leading people into war.
Joan had such motivation because she had the support of the all mighty god. She believed what most people believe that when god is with you who can possibly be against you. With such motivation she worked for the kind of future she wanted, the kind of future where the rightful king was in the power. She had something that made her extraordinary, extraordinary enough to become a saint, she had the support of god. She also knew how to convince people and motive them so she could get the results she wanted. Both these things were important and without either of them she could not have any of the things she accomplished. She was indeed a product of her environment and era because if her environment and era did not call for change or revolution she would not have had the need to create the change or led the revolution. The main thing that can not be explain are the how she got enough strength to do all the things she did. She was a woman living in a man’s world and was successful in it. It is hard to explain because she climbed so high in such a short time. Before she was just a simple pleasant.
Aside from leading her men to countless victories i believe her most important success was when she was able to make people confess their sins. Everything she did was incrediable but i do believe her turning point was when she was put on trail. The reason is because after the trail she became a prisoner in a prison filled with men. She had to watch herself twice as hard to make sure no one touched her in an undesireable way. This might not have been a good turning point but a turning point none the less.
